Trigg finishes third at state powerlifting championships

A pair of Trigg County High School competitors won their weight class Saturday at the 36th Kentucky High School Powerlifting Championships at Hopkinsville.

Jayven Jones finished with a total of 595 pounds (340 bench, 255 clean) in the 185-pound class, and Hunter Heady lifted 380 pounds (190 bench, 190 clean) in the 125-pound class. Jones was also named the outstanding lifter for competitors between the 185-pound and heavyweight classes, and his total set a new bench-and-clean total state record.

Other Trigg lifters were:

135: Dillon Wade, fourth, 420 (225 bench, 195 clean);

165: Isaiah Johnson, sixth, 420 (225 bench, 195 clean);

175: Brandon Wilson, fifth, 440 (215 bench, 225 clean);

195: Skylar Pool sixth, 450 (215 bench, 235 clean);

205: Aaron Stevens, fifth, 470 (250 bench, 220 clean);

220: Jacob Mason, third, 510 (240 bench, 270 clean);

235: Colton Livingston, second, 620 (320 bench, 300 clean); Mike White, fourth, 525 (300 bench, 225 clean); Cody Huntsman, sixth, 490 (265 bench, 225 clean).
