Trigg County High School’s bass fishing team hosted its 2014 Icebreaker Open on Saturday at Kentucky Lake’s Fenton Boat Ramp.

Six schools were represented at the tournament, and Trigg placed two teams in the top 10.

Mason Shelton and Drake Oliver teamed to take second place, catching five fish with a total weight of 17.67 pounds and a big bass of 4.26 pounds. Zack Colbert and Austin Greene teamed to take ninth, catching three fish for a total of 9.13 pounds. Cameron Kniaz finished 11th, catching three fish for 8.87 pounds.

Calloway County’s Cole Emerson and Zack Martin were the winning team, with five fish at 22.24 pounds. Lyon County’s Dalton Nelson and Avery Ellis only caught one fish, but it was the largest bass of the day at 6.33 pounds.

“We had a total of 29 boats,” Trigg head coach Scott Schrock said. “I was glad to see that many fish were caught and all of the students seemed to have a great day. The weather was perfect.”
