Funeral services for Robert F. Utter, 71, of Cadiz, were held on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Cadiz. The Rev. Don Bunch officiated with John Utter and Molly Utter Koertner providing the eulogy. Burial with full military honors followed in the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West in Hopkinsville. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Utter passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at his home in Cadiz.

Mr. Utter was retired having worked 30 years as a system analyst for Duplex Products, Inc., in Sycamore, Ill. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served during the Vietnam War era. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Pennyrile Detachment 1150. He participated with the Pennyrile Honor Guard providing funeral honors and volunteered with Pennyroyal Hospice and as an elementary school classroom leader. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Field W. Utter; and mother, Gladys Swanbum Utter.

Robert Utter is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan E. Utter of Cadiz; two sisters, Karen Morris (and husband Terry) of Sycamore, Ill. and Marilyn Utter of De Kalb, Ill.; son John Utter of Cadiz; daughter Molly Koertner (and husband Kevin) of De Kalb, Ill.; four grandchildren, Sam and Sadie Utter and Claire and Adam Koertner; and four nieces, Kris Morris, Terry Lynn Morris, Leslie Powers and Dawn Smith.

Serving as active pallbearers were members of the Pennyrile Honor Guard and Marine Corps League, Pennyrile Detachment 1150. Music was provided by Sylvia P’Pool, pianist and Susan Utter, vocalist.
