BASEBALL: ‘Cats win three of first five

Trigg County High School’s baseball team split its last four games and currently holds a record of 3-2 to start the season.

Thursday, the Wildcats topped Russellville 5-4 when Jake Green scored on a walk-off error in the bottom of the seventh. Ben Wigand led Trigg at the plate with two hits, a walk and two runs scored.

Tyler Estes pitched a complete game, allowing 10 hits and two earned runs and striking out seven.

Trigg struggled Friday in a 16-3 loss to Murray. Wigand, Ean Sholar and Tyler Allen each drove in a run for the ‘Cats. Caleb McIntosh pitched three and one-third innings, allowing four walks, eight hits and six earned runs, and Clay Kemp allowed three walks, three hits and five runs in two and two-thirds on the mound.
