Local farmer Barry Alexander has been busy during what many might think is a slow time for farmers... winter.

Alexander serves on the Kentucky Soybean Association board of directors and, through his involvement with the association, was selected as Kentucky’s representative to the 2013-2014 American Soybean Association’s Leadership at its Best program.

The 2013-14 leadership class graduated earlier this month in Washington, D.C., after spending two days of in-depth advocacy training and Hill visits.

The Leadership At Its Best program is sponsored by Syngenta and develops leadership, communications and advocacy skills in farmers who have already shown potential to be strong leaders through positions held on their state soybean association boards.

This select group of farmer-leaders participated in the first part of their training this past summer at Syngenta’s offices in Minnesota.
