Planning Commission considers zoning change for bed and breakfasts

A change recommended by Cadiz-Trigg County Planning Commission members last Tuesday evening would officially allow bed and breakfasts in a historic part of Cadiz.

The change to the City’s zoning ordinance would allow bed and breakfasts and other incidental home occupations on Main Street between Brown Street and East End Cemetery. Property owners would have to seek a variance from the City of Cadiz Board of Adjustments, and new property owners would have to ask for a new variance, which could include restrictions.

This effort was brought on when Gary Polete, owner of the Futrell House Bed and Breakfast, wanted his property, which is zoned residential, rezoned for commercial use. Planning Commission Chairman Bob Brame talked about this at last Tuesday’s public hearing.
