Many people stopped by late Thursday afternoon to meet with Carmen Finley (D), one of the people running for the position of Trigg County Clerk.

“A lot of people have talked to me about running,” said Finley. “I’m very active in the community, and this is the perfect opportunity for me to give back, here in my home. It’s something I have thought about for a long time before I decided to do it.”

Carmen said Trigg County Jailer James Hughes was one of the people who convinced her to run. She’ll be running against Melissa Burgess in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, May 20, and if successful against Donavan Washer (R) and Angela Lane (I) in the Tuesday, Nov. 4, General Election.

She said she’s hearing “encouraging things” on the campaign trail so far, but remarked that campaigning while still holding down a full-time job – she has worked at PACS-RSVP (Pennyrile Allied Community Services-Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) for more than 6 years – is a lot of hard work.
