The Cadiz-Trigg County EDC (Economic Development Commission) is planning to merge with the Southwestern Kentucky Economic Development Council.

That is what Trigg County Judge Executive Hollis Alexander told magistrates on the Trigg County Fiscal Court when they met Monday evening. No action was taken; Alexander only briefly described the merger. The SKEDC currently represents Christian and Todd Counties.

“I feel like a regional effort, a more unified effort, may be the direction that our economic development council needs to head in the future. We have approached them, and they have invited us to join them,” said Alexander. “I think it’s a good effort. I think any time that counties regionalize and go to Frankfort with one voice, or when we promote the area as one voice … I think it’s a good idea.”

Alexander said they wanted to wait until after the EDC meets, then he’ll bring this back as a recommendation to be voted on by magistrates at their next meeting, provided EDC members approve the merger as well.
