The last day of school for Trigg County students will be Thursday, May 29, and graduation will be held that night.

That was the decision Trigg County Board of Education members made at a special-called meeting Monday morning. Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby said that because of House Bill 211 – signed into law by Governor Steve Beshear (D) last week – they were able to keep students from going to school in June.

“The legislation loosens the requirements of the number of days that a school has to be in session,” Hamby said. “We only have to meet the requirement for the number of instructional hours, which is 1,062. And we can drop to that date and meet the 1,062-hour requirement.”
