Memorial services for Charles Rexie “Snookie” Thomas, 89, of Lake Wales, Fla., formerly of Cadiz, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014, with full military honors at Jones Cemetery in Trigg County. The Rev. Russ Thomas will officiate. King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Thomas passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at his home in Lake Wales, Fla.

He was born on July 3, 1925, in Canton, Ohio, to Charles Rex Thomas and Nancy Wallace Thomas Hendricks.

Charles was of the Baptist faith. He retired in 1986 from Westinghouse in Beaver, Pa., where he worked as a machine repairman for 36 years. He was a member of the Beaver Falls Turners and Sons of Italy in New Brighton, Pa. He and his wife moved to Florida in March of 2003 with his grandson, Nathan, due to health reasons. Charles was a United States Marine veteran having served in World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian May Thomas.

He is survived by one daughter, Kim Eckstein (and husband Jeff) of Beaver Pa.; step brothers, James Hendricks of Cadiz, Ernest Hendricks of Murray; one step son, Kenneth Wallace (and wife Jean) of Beaver Falls, Pa.; five grandchildren, Nathan Eckstein (and wife Stephanie) of Lake Wales, Fla., Seth Eckstein of Beaver, Pa., Robert Wallace of Pennsylvania, Anita Wallace of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Kevin Wallace of Ohio; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
