Madisonville Disposal stopped collecting garbage in Cadiz on Friday. Clarksville Disposal started collecting garbage on Monday.

At a special-called meeting on Friday afternoon, Cadiz City Council members unanimously chose Clarksville Disposal for temporary garbage pickup. Their contract will last until Saturday, June 1.

“Then we’re going to put out our bids for a permanent contract,” said Cadiz City Clerk Lisa Rogers. “We’ll be taking those through May 5 … We’ll vote on [the new contract] at our May meeting.”

With Clarksville Disposal, the rates for basic service in the city will remain at $12 per month, and all commercial rates will also stay the same. The base rate for Clarksville Disposal is $9.50 per month for residential service, not including franchise or any other fees.

Princeton-based Freedom Waste and Queen City Disposal out of Clarksville, Tenn., also offered bids on the temporary contract.
