The Wildcats opened play in the event, which was hosted by Graves County High School and Mid-Continent University, with two games on Friday.
Trigg’s first game was a 10-9 loss to Mayfield. The ‘Cats fell behind 6-0 before their bats woke up and trimmed the gap to 6-5 after the fifth inning. Mayfield plated four runs in the sixth and allowed another Trigg run. Trigg scored three runs in the seventh but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Jake Green pitched a complete game in the loss, allowing six earned runs. Green also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs batted in. Austin Calhoun had a hit and two RBIs.
