Oh sorry, I just realized I was still typing in with the same capital letters that I used in my letter to the Alabama Department of Public Safety. Now, back to that explaining.
You see, it is time to get my driver’s license renewed. When I tried to do so, I learned that my license had been flagged in the state of Alabama. I can’t get a new license until I take care of matters there. Here is the perplexing part. I have NEVER EVER had a ticket of any kind in the state of Alabama. NEVER EVER! Oh, sorry again about the capital letters, but I am LIVID!
First, it is apparently impossible to speak to a human being in the state of Alabama. There is a number you are instructed to dial. When you dial that number, you punch star for more choices. Hey, I did pretty good with the punching. After star has been punched, you have six or so choices to punch next. I tried them all, but none led to a human contact. I tried six different cities. Sometimes, after listening to the entire recording, it would say to hold to speak to an operator. Then, after holding for 30 seconds, I would be cut off completely. I almost got to speak to one lady in Foley, Ala. Well, I think anyway. The message said that she was either at lunch or with another customer. Just when I thought I had hope, I was cut off again.
Finally, as I as reaching my wits end, I reached an actual human at the Alabama Department of Public Safety. I told her there is someone else with my name wreaking havoc in the state of Alabama, but I have never had a ticket of any kind in her state. Therefore, would she please check that out for me and clear my name. She said she would be glad to if I would send a money order and letter to her office. Then they would get right on it. She said it happens all the time.
“So let me get this straight,” I told the lady. “Even though I am 1,000 percent sure I have never had a citation in your state, the burden of proof is on me to write you a letter, send you money and get my already clean name cleared?” She replied,”Yes sir that is the way it works.” I asked her if the state of Alabama was going to repay me for my lost time, effort, wages and the cost of the money order when they found it was their mistake. She again replied, “Why, no sir we cannot do that. This happens all the time.”
HELLO ALL YOU LAWYERS OUT THERE. ANYBODY WANT TO TAKE ON A CASE JUST TO PROVE A POINT AND STAND UP FOR THE COMMON MAN AGAINST THE SYSTEM? I WILL BE WAITING TO HEAR FROM YOU. CALL ME PLEASE.
OH SORRY about those capital letters again.
