Men and women who serve in the military are used to thinking in terms of the team, but when looking for work after they serve, they need to think about themselves and their families.

“Today, you are here for yourselves, and your mission is your future, and that is what this summit is about,” First Lady Michelle Obama said during last Wednesday’s Veterans Job Summit, held on Fort Campbell.

Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden were the top guests at the summit, where more than 1,200 active duty soldiers and veterans were given the opportunity to talk to potential employers and learn about a new online tool that could help them find jobs.

Obama said that starting on that day, soldiers, veterans and their family members will have access to ebenefits.va.gov, a site that she said will change the way they find jobs after leaving active duty.
