The theme for this year’s local National Day of Prayer event was “One Voice United in Prayer.”

“May we step outside those party lines, may we step outside whatever organization we are with, and come together with one voice in harmony, and have a simple conversation with God,” Anthony Jolly, pastor of Liberty Point Baptist Church, said at Thursday’s event.

About 75 members of the community gathered in front of the Trigg County Justice Center for the event.

Jolly was the featured speaker, but Trigg County Judge Executive Hollis Alexander, District Two Magistrate Barry Littlejohn, Rocky Ridge Baptist Church Pastor Bob McIntosh and Oak Grove Baptist Church Pastor Paxton Redd also spoke.

Alexander encouraged people to say, “Thank you,” to soldiers they see for their service in protecting our freedoms.
