The Janice Mason Art Museum is very pleased to present Days Gone By, an exhibition featuring work by renowned Kentucky painter Gary Akers.

The exhibition will open on Friday, May 9, with a gallery talk and book signing with the artist at 5pm, followed by an opening reception from 6 – 8 p.m. On Saturday, May 10, from 10 – 11:30 a.m., Akers will present a watercolor demonstration. All events are free and open to the public. The exhibition will remain on view through July 19.

Gary Akers is one of America’s foremost contemporary realists, recognized for his expertise in watercolor, drybrush, and egg tempera. His subjects include the inhabited rural and coastal landscape, as well as charming and intimate scenes of domestic life.

As Mr. Akers says, “My paintings are all about light. I look for the decisive instant when the drama inherent in quiet moments can be glimpsed.”
