Funeral services for Roy Eugene Browder, 47, of Cadiz, were held on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Bob McIntosh officiated. Burial followed in the Cerulean Cemetery in Trigg County.

Roy Browder passed away following a long illness at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at his home.

Roy was born on April 2, 1967, in Richmond, Va., to William F. Stewart and Levia Ellis Stewart.

He was a member of the Donaldson Creek Baptist Church. He had been employed by Averitt Lumber Co. as a loader driver for 20 plus years and worked for Precision Lumber Co. as a sawyer. He was a previous member of the Cadiz Bass Club.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, William F. Stewart; and his father-in-law, Gerald K. Messmer.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Cassandra “Cassie” Elaine Browder of Cadiz; his mother, Levia Ellis Stewart of Madisonville,Tenn.; brother Benny Stewart of Cadiz; sister Susie Stewart Parker of Cadiz; two sons, Dustin Browder (and wife Jenny) of Madisonville, Tenn. and Aaron Adams of Cadiz; one granddaughter, Alexandria Browder of Madisonville, Tenn.; mother-in-law Cynthia Messmer of Cadiz; brother-in-law Eric Messmer of Marion, Ill.; sisters-in-law Lori Morris of Gracey and Miranda Messmer of Cadiz; nephews Devon Morris, Daron Morris, Stefan Messmer, Shon Messmer, Brian Parker, Billy Parker (and wife Simone); nieces Brianna Messmer, Ashlee Messmer and Schylar Messmer; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; life-long friend Gary Houha; and beloved pets Patty and Sissy.

Serving as pallbearers were Gary Houha, Jim Fuller, Johnny Meredith, Willie Bridges, Devon Morris, Daron Morris, Benny Stewart and John Deloach. Music was preformed by Patrick and Tammy DeSpain, guitar and vocalist, and Clarrisa King, pianist.
