Trigg County’s 17th annual Relay For Life raised $87,253.77 for to the American Cancer Society for cancer research over the weekend, said Patrick Dawson with the FNB Bank team.

“Congratulations and thanks to our Chairs Ms. Kathy Peyton and Pam Alexander,” said Dawson. “Also a big thanks to all of the teams, individuals and sponsors that made the event a success!”

Although the event had to be moved from Purdue Field to the Trigg County Middle School Gynasium, Co-Chair Kathy Payton said the move gave Relay teams more opportunities to talk to each other. She said that overall, it was a very successful event.

Although previous Relays have raised more money, Payton said most of the Relay fundraising is actually done throughout the year; the annual event in May is mostly to celebrate the cancer survivors and remember those lost their battles with cancer.
