Clarksville Disposal will continue to pick up garbage in the City of Cadiz, at is has done for the past month in the wake of the bankruptcy of Madisonville Disposal.

At their meeting last Tuesday evening, Cadiz City Council members voted 5 – 0 to approve Clarksville Disposal – the lowest of three bidders – to continue to collect garbage. They also voted to accept a $72,000 bid from Clarksville Disposal to purchase all of the trash containers and equipment the City recently purchased from Madisonville Disposal.

Clarksville Disposal submitted a base rate of $11.88 per month per container. Princeton-based Freedom Waste submitted a rate of $12.95 per month per container. And Clarksville, Tenn., based Queen City Disposal submitted a rate of $16.25 per month per container.

In February 2013, Madisonville Disposal was chosen by the City for an exclusive franchise. They had provided residential garbage pickup services in Cadiz for three years, and were set to continue to do so for another three years. Earlier this year, they filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
