At Thursday night’s Trigg County Board of Education meeting, Board members voted to spend $27,749.76 on a VOIP system care of AT&T. Trigg County Public Schools Chief Information Officer Rory Fundora and David Hanson of AT&T spoke to the board. Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby said this decision has been a long time coming.
“In 2009 … we received impact aid dollars. On the list of things for us to do with some of that money was the telephone system,” Hamby said. “We’re actually bringing that forward at this point to address that on a district-wide scale.”
Hamby said that while it would have cost the district $15,000 to tie the new building into the current phone system, it’s more than 20 years old and has been discontinued by the manufacturer.
