Trigg County missed out on a chance to earn the top seed in next week’s 5th District baseball tournament.

In the middle of a six-game losing streak was a 6-4 loss Thursday against district rival Crittenden County. The Rockets, who will host the tournament, earned the tournament’s No. 1 seed and will face Lyon County at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Trigg will face Livingston Central in the second game at approximately 7:30 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, and both finalists earn automatic berths into the 2nd Region Tournament the following week at Webster County.

The Wildcats have struggled at the plate recently. Thursday’s total of four hits was their highest in four games. Trigg led 1-0 after the second inning against Crittenden but allowed three runs in the third and trailed the rest of the way.
