SOFTBALL: Lady ‘Cats top Todd for fifth win

Trigg County will face top-seed Livingston Central at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the 5th District softball touranment in Marion. Crittenden County and Lyon County will play in Monday’s second game, and the winners, who earn automatic berths into the 2nd Region Tournament the following week, will play at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the district championship game.

The Lady ‘Cats had a chance at the tournament’s No. 3 seed but fell to the No. 4 spot with an 8-0 loss Thursday at Crittenden. Alison Russell pitched a complete game in the loss.

Friday, Trigg picked up its fifth win of the season, splitting a doubleheader at Todd County Central. Trigg lost 4-2, with Gracie Dixon striking out five in six innings of work, and Emily Crowe, Alexa Agosto and Autumn Durham each had two hits.

In the Lady ‘Cats’ 13-2 win over Todd, Russell struck out seven in five innings of work. Regan Melton, Addison Rogers and Durham each had two hits and scored two runs, and Russell, Dixon and Agosto also scored a pair each. Crowe tripled and scored.
