James Carter passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
Jim was born on Jan. 20, 1946, in the Falls of Rough area to Aden Carter and Bessie Fentress Carter. He attended grade school in Grayson County and high school in Breckinridge County. He attended the University of Kentucky and graduated from Chase Law School. Jim served as the Christian County Public Defender and held private practice in Hopkinsville. He was a United States Army Veteran having earned the rank of Captain. The preponderance of his military service was spent on the island of Okinawa, Japan.
He is survived by his life-long companion, Pauline Loranger; former wife Sherrie Warwick; and two children, James R. Carter II and Jennifer Brandy Carter, both of Florida.
