The Lady Wildcats had two hits in the first inning but only two other baserunners the rest of the game, and the top-20 Lady Cardinals made solid contact all the way through their lineup.
“It’s easy to drop your head against a team like that, but the pressure was on [Livingston] to hit the ball and win,” Trigg head coach Billy Fortner said. “We kept a positive attitude through the game, and that’s a key to winning.”
Alison Russell pitched the first two innings for the loss, and Gracie Dixon went the rest of the way.
Trigg ended the year on somewhat of a high note, however, with wins in the last two games of the regular season. The Lady ‘Cats, who finish the season with a record of 7-20, topped Caldwell County 9-8 in eight innings Friday and Mayfield 10-5 on Senior Night last Tuesday.
