David Hazelmyer with American Legion Post No. 74, the group in charge of Field of Flags, said plans are underway, with the flags scheduled to go up on Saturday, June 14, which is also known as Flag Day.
The flags will stand for about three weeks, coming down after the closing ceremony on Saturday, July 12. As in previous years, there will be a flag-folding ceremony, a guest speaker, an honor guard and the playing of “Taps.”
“We’re going to have it in the morning, weather permitting, and it’s going to be at the Field of Flags,” Hazelmyer said. “We’re working on getting a guest speaker.”
Hazelmyer said that like in previous years, they are asking for donations, a donation that will give the donor a flag a 3-foot-by-5-foot American-made flag, a certificate and a placard attached to the flag while it’s on display.
