DIXON – Trigg County High School’s baseball team ended its season Monday with a 9-2 loss to Henderson County in the 2nd Region Tournament at Webster County High School.

The 5th District champion Wildcats finished the 2014 season with a record of 16-17.

Trigg had a solid start to the contest, leading 2-0 after two innings. Ben Wigand singled in the first inning and later scored on a single by Tyler Estes. Austin Calhoun led off the Wildcat second inning with a single, and his courtesy runner Luke Carneyhan scored on a two-out infield single by Ean Sholar.

“Our focus was to get off the bus, get loose and get going,” Trigg head coach Tim Bush said. “I was excited about how we started, but we had that feeling in the third or fourth inning that if we didn’t do something else offensively, we couldn’t just sit on two runs.”

The ‘Cats couldn’t push any more runs across. Trigg stranded 12 runners on base in the game, six of them in scoring position.
