Trigg County High School senior Jayven Jones finished fifth in the long jump and 10th in the triple jump Friday at the Class 2A state championship track meet at the University of Kentucky.

LEXINGTON – Jayven Jones was Trigg County High School’s lone representative in Friday’s Class 2A state championship track meet at the University of Kentucky.

Jones qualified for the state meet after winning 1st Region championships in the long jump and triple jump the previous weekend. Friday, Jones finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 10 inches, and he finished 10th in the triple jump with an effort of 39 feet, 10.5 inches.

Both of Jones’ finishes were one spot better than his qualifying distances in region championship competition.

Earlier this year, Jones signed to continue his football career at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia.
