Leonard Wadlington passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014, at his home in Benton.
Mr. Wadlington had worked for over forty years in the river barge transportation industry, having retired from Mid-South Towing as an assistant operations manager.
He had served in the United States Navy, was a member of Dyers Chapel United Methodist Church, the International Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Paducah No. 85, Retired Riverman Association, Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121 and the Rizpah Shrine Temple. He had also served on the board of directors for the River Heritage Museum of Paducah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Wadlington; his parents, Felix Cotton Wadlington and Ruby Mitchell Wadlington; brother Felix Wadlington; sisters Juanita Kennedy, Catherine Wadlington, Dorothy Bridges and Mary Jane Harvey; and one son Ben Wadlington.
He is survived by two sisters, Pauline P’Pool (and husband Clint) and Barbara Jenkins (and husband Bill), all of Cadiz; one daughter, Janet Wadlington of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Roger Kennedy, Johnny Kennedy, Charlie Kennedy, Denzil P’Pool, Timmy P’Pool and Steve Wadlington. Music will be provided by Sylvia P’Pool, pianist.
