Funeral services for Kent L. Conners, 75, of Cadiz, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Ponderosa Baptist Church in Trigg County with visitation from 10 a.m. until the service hour. The Revs. John Mitchell and Norman Cotton will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at a later date in the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West in Hopkinsville. Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Conners passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

Mr. Conners graduated from Northern Illinois University with a master’s degree in education and went on to teach industrial arts, drivers education and history for 25 years and retired from Hampshire High School in Hampshire, Ill.

He was a United States Army veteran having proudly served in the Vietnam War and later retired as an active reservist serving as the Tank Commander for B Company in the United States Army Reserves after serving 27 years. He attended Ponderosa Baptist Church in Cadiz. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Fellowship of Cycle Disciples, LBL Chapter.

Kent had a love for family and country and had a passion for exploring God’s creation of nature and wildlife.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Victoria Conners; parents James Conners and Mary Lorene Hayes Conners; and one brother James K. Conners.

Kent Conners is survived by his wife Barbara Walker Conners of Cadiz; six children, Andrew James Conners (and wife Michele) of King Of Prussia, Pa., Matthew Loren Conners (and wife Juliet) of Las Vegas, Nev., Kristine Georgeanne Conners of Las Vegas, Nev., James and JoEllen Murphree of Georgetown, Casey Murphree of Princeton, Ind. and Elizabeth Batsel of Madisonville; six grandchildren, Jahn, Sara, Lauren, Ashley, Emma and Payton; one niece, Lori Conners Clay; and one nephew, Brady Conners.
