Mr. Glenn grew up in Cadiz. As a young boy, Norris encountered a pharmacist in a drug store and decided right then to pursue pharmacy as his profession. He joined the army and spent two years in Korea.
The GI Bill enabled him to attend pharmacy school and graduate from the University of Kentucky. During a spontaneous trip to visit an army buddy in Aberdeen, Ohio, Norris met, fell in love and married his beloved wife of 58 years, Ilene Glenn.
After graduating, Mr. Glenn and his wife moved to Salem, where they started their family and established his pharmacy businesses. Norris owned and operated Glenn Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Glenn's Prescription Center in Salem, as well as Glenn's Apothecary in Marion.
Norris was passionate about his work and serviced the communities for 60 years. He loved to counsel and help people with their health and medicine. Norris enjoyed mentoring the young people who worked for him at the drugstores, many of whom went on to achieve successful careers. Norris loved people, and he frequently stepped in to help those in need.
Norris was a Boy Scout leader and led numerous camping and hiking trips. Other hobbies included fishing trips and listening to gospel quartet music. He loved playing basketball and built a lighted basketball court in his back yard. There were many night games attended by boys and men from all around the area. Most of all, Norris loved gatherings when his entire family was around him, especially when there was homemade ice cream involved and the grandchildren were busy playing in his back yard. He was so very loved, adored and admired by his entire family.
Norris was also a Sunday school teacher, a deacon at Salem Baptist Church, and a United States Army Veteran. He was a devout Christian who loved studying the Bible and teaching others. Norris was very involved with his church up to the time of his death. Through his charity and love for people, his life reflected the love of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ilene Glenn, and his parents, Jamie and Jastine Humphries Glenn.
