Trigg County High School students attended the Special Olympic Summer Games held June 6-8 in Richmond.

In April, they attended their local area competition to qualify for the state competition. The summer games included teams throughout all of Kentucky. Elliot Shepard received first place in shot put and fourth in 50-meter dash. Maurice Catlett won first place in shot put and second in 50-meter dash.

Shane Edmonson achieved second place in shot put and first in 50-meter dash. Rachel Cook received second place in softball throw and in 50-meter dash. Coaches were Alecia Underwood, Lucinda Barnett, Kewanis Kennedy, Rachel Finley and Heather Wolfe. Volunteers were Brian Rhone, Charisse Rhone, Julia Rhone, Rachel Shepard and Skylar Shepard.

These students were welcomed home with a police escort back to school. A big thank you to the community for showing their support at the car wash as well as to Civitan and Rotary Club for their donations. It was with these donations the team was able to make the trip to the summer games.
