Seth Hooks pleaded guilty to the March 9, 2008 murder and robbery of Harvey Choat during a hearing last Wednesday afternoon, and 56th Circuit Judge C.A. Woodall III accepted his pleas.

A formal sentencing hearing will be held on at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13. Woodall said that because of the violent nature of the crime, Hooks won’t be eligible for probation or shock probation.

However, 56th Circuit Commonwealth Attorney G.L. Ovey’s deal would mean Hooks would get life in prison with the possibility of parole in 20 years for the murder charge and 20 years in prison for the robbery charge.

“Mr. Hooks, I find that your guilty plea has been made knowingly, intelligently and voluntarily, and so I accept it,” Woodall said, after Hooks formally admitted to the two crimes.

Hooks pleaded guilty to capital murder and first-degree robbery.
