The Graves County Health Department will be responsible for the Wildcat Clinic, for a year at least, but it will still be staffed by the same people.

At Thursday night’s Trigg County Board of Education meeting, board members voted 3 – 0 for the GCHD contract over the Trigg County Hospital contract. Board member Donnie Holland was absent, and board member Sharon Simmons abstained because she’s a TCH employee.

Kentucky Council for Community Education Chairman Dr. Scott Sutherland talked to the board to recommend the Graves County recommendation, largely because it would keep the two current workers in the same retirement system.

“The hospital made a great proposal,” said Sutherland. “The big problem I have, and why I would recommend you going with Graves County, is that Jamie [Hite] and Ashley [Tyler] would have to transfer retirement systems, and it would be very little, if any, savings to the district … We don’t want to take their retirement from them.”
