Stivers, who has been in the State Senate for 18 years and has been the Senate President for two years, talked about a variety of issues, including the state’s retirement system, changes to state taxes and regulations and making of the state budget.
“There’s some things that we could do differently. We’ve talked about tax reform, we’ve talked about regulatory reform,” Stivers said. “It’s going to take cooperation among both chambers and the executive branch to do this.”
Toyota left Kentucky for Texas, which has seen rapid population growth because it’s attracting businesses due to its tax and regulatory structure, Stivers argued.
