The Trigg County Triggers shooting team, sponsored by Trigg County 4-H, participated Saturday in invitational tournaments in Marshall and Calloway counties.

At Marshall County, Trigg had 11 rifle shooters and three trap (shotgun) shooters, all ranging from 9 to 18 years old. Earning tropies were Aidan Frye, third place, 9-11 rifle; Jeffrey Frochtam, second, 15-18 rifle; Joshua Thweatt, third, 15-18 rifle.

Three Trigg pairs won in the Buddy Shoot competition, where shooters are joined by partners 18-years-old and above – Jesse and Aidan Frye in 9-11, Jason and Derek Joiner in 12-14 and Jamey Thomas and Maylee Frye in 15-18. At the Calloway County event, Gage Mathis finished third in 12-14 trap, and Casen Render was fourth in 9-11 trap.

The Triggers will compete this weekend in McCracken County and is coached by Jesse Frye (rifle) and Keith Lancasster (trap). Frye said Trigg County officials continue to work toward finding a location for the team to practice and possibly host events.
