Cadiz City Council member Todd King filed to run to for the office of Cadiz Mayor Tuesday morning, Trigg County Clerk Dorris McGill said.

King has served for several terms on the Cadiz City Council. He said he’s been thinking about this for the past two or three years, as current Cadiz Mayor Lyn Bailey doesn’t intend to run for re-election.

“This community has been good to me, and I’d like to give back to it and try to fill [Bailey’s] shoes,” King said.

Tuesday afternoon, Trigg County Intermediate School Principal Brian Futrell filed to run for Cadiz City Council.

Candidates could file for the partisan races late last year and earlier this year.
