As of last week, there were about 170 flags up at the Field of Flags at Tollgate Plaza 155 of which have been sold so far, said Chuck Rockhold of American Legion Post No. 74.

“When we started, we put up 100 flags, and then as people purchased them and we got them named, we put 70 more,” Rockhold said. “I think we’re about to max out. But we’ve got a nice display and that’s what we were shooting for.”

The flags honor Americans who fought in World War I up to the current wars in the Middle East, and while most of them represent those who fought in World War I and World War II, many represent those who fought in the current conflicts, said Rockhold. “We’ve got a real cross section of Americana,” he added.
