Nell Coyle passed away of natural causes at 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Hilton Head Hospital in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Nell was born on Aug. 20, 1922, in Cadiz to Arthur W. Simmons and Alma R. Dawson Simmons.
She was a nurse and certified ophthalmology assistant. Nell attended church at Bloom, Inc., Assisted Living Center in Hilton Head Island, S.C. She was a previous member of First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville and Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Battlecreek, Mich.
Nell was a graduate of Jefferson School of Nursing, Battle Creek, Mich.; served as a nurse for Dr. Phillip Bonifer, Sr., during the 1950s and 1960s and for Dr. Phillip Bonifer, Jr., during the 1970s. Nell was a member of the Calhoun Co. Medical Assistants and a life-member of Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary, Battle Creek, Mich.
Nell Coyle was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Coyle; her parents, Arthur W. and Alma Simmons; two brothers, Mitchell Simmons and Earl Simmons; and three sisters, Myrtle Cunningham, Eula Higbee and Geneva Simmons Thomas.
She is survived by three brothers, Kenneth Simmons of Hopkinsville, Norris Simmons of Henderson and Adrian Simmons of Middleton, Tenn.; one daughter, Connie F. Pendleton (and husband the late Thaddueus “Tad” A.) of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; one grandson, Dr. Patrick Coyle Pendleton (and wife Stacie D.) of Orlando Park, Ill.; and two great-granddaughters, Kierstin L. and Kayleigh S. Pendleton.
