Even if the August deadline isn’t met, the new bridges across Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, and other regional transportation projects wouldn’t have been affected, said Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Spokesman Keith Todd.
“To date, the Lake Bridges project has not been affected,” KyTC Spokesman Ryan Watts said.
However, $185 million in federal transportation projects in Kentucky, such as the Interstate 65 widening project between Bowling Green and Elizabethtown and pavement repair work on Interstate and parkway systems, have been delayed because of this issue, said Watts.
KyTC officials will continue to monitor the situation and will make decisions regarding new construction work based on the situation, but they don’t anticipate slowing down or stopping any construction jobs that are active.
