Funeral services for Dr. Mayme Green, 89, of Louisville, formerly of Hopkinsville, were held on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at First Street Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. The Rev. C.E. Timberlake officiated. Burial followed in the Greenhill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville. Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mayme Green passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014, at Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville.

She was born on March 8, 1925, in Todd County to Ed and Rosa Parrish.

Mayme was a homemaker and faithful member of First Gethsemane Baptist Church in Louisville. She was the first lady of First Baptist Church for 13 years. She was first district secretary of Sunday school convention, president of BWMEC, president of circle #3 and ministers’ wives counsel. She held the highest position in state as president of Baptist Women’s Missionary Convention.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. B.F. Green.

Mayme Green is survived by her sister, Rosa Carter; children Rev. Mary Pauline Owens, Mack (Zelmon) Dykes, Jr., Elizabeth Dykes Bush and Patricia Daughtry; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
