Funeral services for Waylon Rogers, 86, of Princeton, were held on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Wayne Duncan assisted by Revs. Randall Rogers and Jonathan Arvin officiated. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Waylon Rogers passed away following a long illness on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at New Haven Assisted Living Center in Princeton.

Waylon was born on March 26, 1928, in Caldwell County to Lucian and Verna Cook Rogers.

He was a retired farmer and served as deputy sheriff for seven years before becoming sheriff of Caldwell County for two terms.

Waylon Rogers was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Storms Rogers; his parents, Lucian and Verna Rogers; sister Pauline Teasley; and five brothers, Ralph, Carl, Gilmer, Aaron and John Rogers.

He is survived by brother C.B. Rogers (and wife Ruby) of Princeton; brother-in-law Joe Storm (and wife Betty) of Princeton; sister-in-law Robbie Breedlove (and husband James) of Princeton; one son, David Rogers (and wife Kimberly) of Caldwell County; one daughter, Nancy Ezell (and husband David) of Gracey; grandchildren Jeff Ezell and Kathy of Indiana, Jason Ezell and Melinda of Princeton, Chris Rogers of Clay, Eric Rogers and Melissa of Frankfort and Tamara New of Princeton.
