Five baseball players from Trigg County were members of this year’s Lyon County American Legion Post 68 senior baseball team that finished third in the American Legion State Tournament held last week in Shelbyville.

The team went 3-2 in the tournament, losing to Shelbyville, defeating Campbellsville, Metcalfe County and Florence and losing by one run in extra innings in the semifinals against Ashland.

The Metcalfe and Florence wins were also in extra innings, and Post 68 needed two runs in the ninth against Florence to send the game to the 10th inning, where Post 68 scored 11 runs to put the game away. Post 68 also had to come from behind to defeat Metcalfe and did so in walk-off fashion.

Trigg players on this year’s Post 68 team were 2013 graduate Trace Kuberski, 2014 grad Ben Wigand and current TCHS students Jake Green, Ean Sholar and Andrew Terrell.
