The deadline to file for non-partisan positions passed Tuesday afternoon, and this year’s Cadiz City Council race will feature 11 candidates, including eight newcomers and three incumbents.

Trigg County Clerk Dorris McGill said that on Wednesday, Cadiz City Council member Susan Bryant filed to run for re-election. All three incumbents that are running for re-election – Bryant, Bob Noel and Frankie Phillips – have filed.

Cadiz City Council members Manual Brown, Todd King and Gary Polete will not run for re-election. King is running for mayor and can’t run for more than one office at once.

Polete announced at last Tuesday’s City Council meeting that he will not seek a second term. He joins Manuel Brown and Todd King as current members who won’t seek re-election: King is running for mayor.
