A “pre-closing” on Barkley Lake Regional Water District’s improvement project will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the Canton Road office.

BLRWD Manager Terry Goins said the start of construction on the project won’t be far behind, but he didn’t want to speculate on how long the project will take. He said that will be discussed at that meeting.

At their meeting last month, BLRWD board members passed a bond resolution for $825,000 for the project. Last month, board members approved a bid for the line work to United Pipeline of Tompkinsville, for $452,565. They also approved a bid for the new water tank to Kentucky Glass-Lined Tank Systems, Inc., of Lexington for $368,498.

BLRWD Manager Terry Goins they’re still waiting on approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development division, but he estimated that construction could begin by the middle of next month.
