Funeral services for William “Bill” Williams, 84, of Cadiz, were held on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. Jeff Bell, Jimmie Carr and Lindsey Champion officiated. Burial with full military honors followed in the Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville. King’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Williams passed away following a long illness at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Baptist Health in Madisonville.

William Williams was born on Nov. 23, 1929, in Laurel, Del., to Irvin Williams and Amelia Short Williams.

William was a member of Cadiz Church of Christ, where he was a retired elder and song leader. William was a retired Lt. Colonel from the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He had worked for the Corp of Engineers as a mechanical engineer and was a member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion, NARFE and life master of the American Contract Bridge League.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers.

William Williams is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlene Williams of Cadiz; one son, David Williams (and wife Becky) of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Karen Grate of Auburn, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Joshua Williams, Luke and Lauren Williams, Sarah and Ross Conn, Michael and Katie Williams, Ashlee and Alan Sweeny, Austen and Chelsie Grate and Hunter Grate; and three great-grandchildren, Lawson, Lincoln and Russell.

Serving as pallbearers were Joshua Williams, Luke Williams, Ross Conn, Michael Williams, Alan Sweeny, Austen Grate and Hunter Grate.
