Trigg County High School’s football team closed the preseason with a strong outing Friday, topping Crittenden County 50-7 in a scrimmage at Christian County’s middle school field.

The Wildcats fell victim to a successful fake punt on Crittenden’s first drive, and the Rockets scored a 75-yard touchdown on a reverse pass during their second possession for their only score. Trigg’s defense stifled Crittenden the rest of the way.

Trigg’s offense opened with a seven-play, 91-yard scoring drive capped by Skylar Pool’s 10-yard run. Pool also scored on a 33-yard run and connected with Debo Mayes on a 39-yard touchdown pass in the second half.

Wildcat starting quarterback Tyreke Wilson was accurate through the air and effective on the ground. He had a pair of 12-yard runs in the first half, and his passing game included a 23-yard touchdown to Tae Day, a 32-yard score to Brandon WIlson, a 33-yard score to Reggie Radford and a 45-yard score to Micah Gordon.
