Mr. Sons worked as a production supervisor for 26 years at Superior Graphite in Hopkinsville. He was a University of Kentucky graduate with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture. He was a member of Cerulean Baptist Church where he proudly maintained the lawn and landscaping of the church facility. Jerry was an avid sports fan and was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and University of Kentucky supporter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm Sons; paternal grandparents Lonnie and Eleanor Sons; and maternal grandparents, John E. “J.E.” and Dorothy Broadbent.
Jerry Ray is survived by his mother, Nancy Broadbent Sons of Cerulean; sister Sharon Butts (and husband Stevie) of Cadiz; niece Samantha Butts of Nashville, Tenn.; nephew Jeremy Butts of Cadiz; loving companion Lisa Guinn of Cadiz and her children Jamey Guinn (and wife Lauren) of Cadiz and Tara Guinn (and fiancé Anthony Bauman) of Denver, Colo.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jackie Sholar, Jamey Guinn, Darin Stevens, Kent Blanks, Jimmy Hart, Steve Guess, Jeff Broadbent and Dr. John Broadbent. Honorary pallbearers are Mike McGill, Tommy Clark, Steve Clark, Jason Walker, Terry Stevens, James Butts, James Clark, Earl Harris, Jr. and Chris Thomas.
